Good day folks, Rod from My Water Filter here, and what we're about here today is changing the cartridge in the Australis 12 Liter Billabong Water Purifiers. So we've put this one together, and it's got a Australis water filter candle in it, and now we're gonna give a demonstration on how to change the candle, and at the same time we'll upgrade to the UltraCeram, and we'll actually put an UltraCeram candle back in here. So this is the situation. Very simple, off with the lid.
Obviously, you wanna ensure that there's no water in the top tank, and I'll probably put a towel down on the bench, tea towel at least, something nice and soft to put it in, it is nice ceramic, you don't wanna chip it or anything like that. So lay something down on the bench so that you can't break anything, and then we're just simply gonna change the candle inside. So I'm just holding the candle on the inside and the nut on the bottom here, we're just simply gonna undo this nut.
Very simple process, it's one of the easiest water filters to operate, make quality water. You can see with the test results on the Ultraceram, they're just incredible water filters. You pull him out and that's what we've got, back to new, hole in the bottom. I've put this piece of cardboard over the top, just to take care of the cartridge. If it's an old one, you throw it in the bin, don't get too concerned about that, but it will go today. Off with the Australis, and then in with the Ultraceram. Once again, what we're gonna do is try and protect this candle as best we can. So I'm gonna leave the bubble wrap around it so that we can grip onto it.
I'll give you a look at it and we're just gonna put that into the top tank. Now sometimes different candles that you purchase could have two rubber washers, might only have one rubber washer. As you saw on the Australis, it had two rubber washers, this one only comes with one. So if there's only one rubber washer on the stem or the thread of the cartridge, put the washer on and we're gonna push it through the top tank from the inside out and we're gonna seal inside the top tank.
So hole in the bottom, we're gonna put the candle through there's the stem coming out, it's nice and smooth on here, and we're just gonna put this nut on and tighten him up, it's gonna spin very easy on this base. So you'll get it nice and tight, very tight, and when we do that, it'll seal up with that rubber washer on the inside, and we're good to go. Here we go, Okay. And there we have it, sitting inside there with a nice Ultraceram candle.
As I've said in other videos, what you'll do is when you replace the cartridge, you'll get the new cartridge, just rinse it gently under the flow of the kitchen tap, wipe any ceramic off the outside, get rid of the taste, prepare it, inside this top tank, top tank inside the water filter. Now we're gonna get the jug and we're gonna fill it up. We'll fill it up, open the tap, tip the water into a bucket, put it on a pot plant. We'll put three tanks of water through and give that cartridge a really good flush out. After that point of time, you're free to start using it, start drinking the water. Happy with the taste, just keep on running.
If you think that it needs a little bit more flushing, then you can put a couple more tanks of water through it. What you'll find is after the first week, it'll start to taste better. So point-of-use day one, after 7-10 days the water will keep on improving as the carbon, etc. in the cartridge starts to activate. So put it in, give it a flush, lid on, and enjoy, thank you.
