Performance

The internal chamber inside these gravity purifiers is made from BPA free plastic. The overall capacity of the unit including the chamber and the purifier is 10 litres.

Please Note: The Stefani ceramic cartridge is designed to be used on municipally treated water. DO NOT use on water which is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality.

3 stage purifying process

1. Ceramic Filtration

The microporous ceramic membrane is capable of filtering out microorganisms, dirt, rust, algae and other suspended solids.

2. Sterilising

The water will pass through the colloidal silver cover that sterilises the water and eliminates the bacteria.

3. Granular Activated Carbon

Granular activated carbon's extensive pore structure enables it to screen every last drop of water passing through and efficiently absorbs chlorine, odors and organic chemicals.

The university tests concluded that Stefani’s water purifying process will remove up to 99.9% of bacteria and amoeba, and 99% of suspended solids.

Before use

Allow 2-4 litres of water to pass through the ceramic cartridge to remove any fine activated carbon particles from the ceramic cartridge. The fine particles are harmless and are a result of the activated carbon's manufacturing process.

Candle Maintenance

To clean the candle, first remove it from the purifier unit. Hold the candle under gently running water and using a stiff brush, remove the visible impurities from the candle's surface.

Scrub off the outer layer of the ceramic with a new unused kitchen style scourer scrubbing it in an up & down motion under the running tap water. Never use soap or detergents on the candle.

If you are experiencing an unusually slow flow rate through the cartridge (<1 litre/hour) 

A. Unscrew the ceramic cartridge from the upper chamber.

B. Run water briefly in reverse through the filter candle to remove any possible blockages.

C. Soak the candle in a container of water for 2 x hours, this gets rid of any fibres and loose particles.

D. By soaking the ceramic candle, trapped air bubbles are expelled from within the candle. Ensure that the plastic nozzle of the ceramic candle is pointing upwards and is below the water level.

Replacement intervals

For best results and to maintain maximum protection, replace the Stefani ceramic cartridges regularly every 3 to 6 months depending on the quality of the water been filtered.
