It is a highly efficient ceramic microfilter which provides genuine sub-micron filtration to your drinking water.
The Doulton Super Sterasyl is a two-stage cartridge combining the highly efficient filtration properties of ceramic with the enhanced water treatment properties of activated carbon. It carries a filtration efficiency of 99.99% at 0.9 microns absolute and 99.9% efficiency at 0.5-micron nominal.
We recommend replacing this cartridge every 6 to 12 months depending on water quality and usage.
2-Stage filtration process

Stage 1 - Doulton Sterasyl Ceramic
This stage filters fine particulate matter, bacteria, cysts, and turbidity. The incorporation of silver locked within the ceramic structure gives enhanced bacteriostatic and self sterilising properties.
Stage 2 - (GAC) Granular Activated Carbon
An inner core of activated carbon removes chlorine and organic compounds.

Cartridge Guide
Filter cartridge manufacturers rate cartridges in "microns". Microns are a size measurement of the pore size, so the smaller the number, the tighter the filter. One-micron filters are for drinking water only. In general, they are too tight to filter large amounts of water without slowing the flow to unacceptable levels.
Filter cartridge manufacturers also use the words "absolute" and "nominal" to describe their products' micron ratings. Absolute means absolute. Nominal means "more or less."
