MWF 20" x 4.5" Twin Big Blue Whole House Untreated Rainwater Filtration System with Disruptor® BIO

Advanced Two-Stage Whole House Water Filtration - Designed to Help Protect Your Family from Contaminants in Untreated Rainwater.

The MWF 20" x 4.5" Twin Big Blue Whole House Rainwater Filtration System with Disruptor® BIO is a complete two-stage water filtration system designed for Australian homes and properties relying on untreated rainwater tanks.

Rainwater may look fresh and clean, but water collected from rooftops and stored in tanks can contain sediment, bacteria, viruses, organic matter and other contaminants introduced by birds, animals, insects and the surrounding environment.

Unlike treated city water, rainwater is generally not disinfected before entering your home.

That's why this advanced whole-house system combines two specialised filtration cartridges inside a durable Twin Big Blue filter housing assembly.

Stage 1 - 1 Micron Pleated Sediment Cartridge: Captures dirt, rust, sand, silt and suspended particles, helping protect the second-stage cartridge from premature blockage.

Stage 2 - Disruptor® BIO Untreated Rainwater Cartridge: Uses patented electroadsorption technology, advanced nanofibre filtration and additional BIO filtration media to target microscopic contaminants, including bacteria, viruses, selected PFAS compounds and heavy metals.

Together, these two filtration stages provide advanced contaminant reduction for your home's rainwater supply, helping deliver cleaner, clearer and better-quality filtered water throughout your home.

The system is designed to be installed on the main incoming rainwater supply, allowing water to be filtered before reaching your household taps, showers, kitchen, laundry and appliances.

With SGS laboratory testing demonstrating exceptional contaminant reduction performance for Disruptor® filtration technology, this complete system combines advanced filtration, practical maintenance and high-capacity whole-house operation.

No electricity is required to operate the filtration cartridges. Additional disinfection may still be appropriate depending on the microbiological quality of your rainwater and your household's requirements.

The BIG Problem with Our Rainwater Supplies Today

Rainwater is one of nature's wonderful resources, but collecting and storing rainwater does not automatically mean it is free from contaminants.

Rainwater tanks can receive unwanted material from:

  • Birds and Animals: Droppings and other contamination deposited on rooftops and gutters.

  • Dust and Airborne Particles: Dirt, dust and fine particles washed into tanks during rainfall.

  • Leaves and Organic Matter: Decaying vegetation and organic debris entering the collection system.

  • Bacteria and Other Microorganisms: Microbiological contaminants introduced through roof catchments, tank openings and the surrounding environment.

  • Roofing and Plumbing Materials: Certain materials may introduce metals or other contaminants into stored water.

  • Agricultural and Environmental Sources: Some properties may experience contamination from surrounding land use and airborne pollutants.

Just because rainwater looks clean does not mean it is free from microscopic contaminants.

A properly selected and maintained filtration system can help reduce contaminants before the water is distributed throughout your home.

How the Two-Stage Filtration System Works

Stage 1: 1 Micron Pleated Sediment Cartridge

The First Line of Defence - Capturing Sediment and Helping Protect Your Disruptor® BIO Cartridge.

The 1 Micron Pleated Sediment Cartridge is installed in the first Big Blue filter housing, where it captures fine sediment and suspended particles before water reaches the second filtration stage.

Rainwater tanks can accumulate dirt, dust, sand, rust, silt and organic debris over time.

The pleated design provides a large filtration surface area, helping collect sediment while supporting water flow through the system.

What the Sediment Cartridge Helps Remove:

  • Algae and Organic Debris: Helps capture suspended algae and larger organic particles.

  • Dirt and Dust: Reduces particles entering the water supply from roofs and gutters.

  • Rust: Captures suspended rust particles from tanks, pipes and fittings.

  • Sand and Silt: Reduces fine sediment that can accumulate in stored rainwater.

  • Suspended Particles: Helps improve water clarity and reduces sediment loading on the second cartridge.

Why Choose Pleated Sediment Filtration?

  • 1 Micron Filtration: Designed to capture fine suspended particles according to the cartridge's micron rating.

  • Large Filtration Surface Area: The pleated design provides more surface area for collecting sediment.

  • Helps Prevent Premature Blockage: Captures sediment before it reaches the Disruptor® BIO cartridge.

  • Washable Design: The pleated cartridge may be gently rinsed to remove accumulated sediment, where permitted by the manufacturer.

  • Supports Ongoing Water Flow: Regular cleaning or replacement helps maintain water flow through the system.

Important: Sediment filtration alone is not sufficient to make untreated rainwater safe for drinking.

Stage 2: Disruptor® BIO Untreated Rainwater 20" x 4.5" Cartridge

Advanced Microbiological and Chemical Contaminant Reduction - The Heart of Your Whole House Filtration System.

The Disruptor® BIO 20" x 4.5" Cartridge is the second filtration stage and provides the system's specialised contaminant reduction performance.

Using patented Disruptor® electroadsorption filtration technology, this advanced cartridge combines depth filtration, nanofibre filtration and additional BIO filtration media to target microscopic contaminants that conventional sediment filtration alone cannot adequately address.

The cartridge is designed to reduce a broad range of contaminants, including bacteria, viruses, fine particles, selected PFAS compounds and heavy metals.

The additional BIO filtration media surrounds the original Disruptor® technology, providing an expanded filtration structure designed to enhance contaminant capture.

The original Disruptor® filtration technology has been used successfully by My Water Filter customers for many years.

The newer BIO configuration builds on this established technology with additional filtration media designed specifically for untreated rainwater applications.

With the sediment cartridge protecting the second stage, the Disruptor® BIO cartridge can focus on its advanced contaminant reduction role with less exposure to sediment loading.

Disruptor® Laboratory Test Results

Disruptor® filtration technology has undergone independent SGS laboratory testing, demonstrating exceptional contaminant reduction performance under specified test conditions.

The following laboratory reduction results have been reported for Disruptor® filtration technology:

  • E. coli / Total Coliforms: Greater than 99.9999% reported microbiological reduction.

  • Coliphage (Bacterial Virus Surrogate): 99.9995% reduction.

  • Lead (Pb): Greater than 99.4% reduction at pH 6.5.
