5 Tips To Stay Hydrated While Drinking Alcohol

The morning after a night consuming alcohol can often begin with a hangover, even if you only had a couple. This is because alcohol dehydrates and strips away electrolytes.

5 TIPS TO STAY HYDRATED WHILE DRINKING

No doubt you have heard about the importance of drinking water with alcohol; here are some handy hints to help you stay hydrated to avoid to minimise a hangover.

1. Drink Plenty Of Water Beforehand

The best way to prime yourself for a few glasses of wine is to drink plenty of filtered water before having your first drink. The standard is eight glasses a day, but the Mayo Clinic-approved amount for men is 15.5 cups of water per day, and for women is 11.5 cups of water per day.

2. Go 1 For 1

Because alcohol dehydrates the body twice as fast, it helps to make sure you’re keeping up your hydration levels while you’re drinking. Drink one glass of water for every alcoholic drink you have, especially if you do shots!

4. Use Filtered Water Where Possible In Your Blended Drinks

Don't underestimate the power of filtered water in hydration. It has been proven that pure water, without contaminants, helps keep the body more hydrated and prevents the need to detox from the pollutants coming out of all taps.

When you are drinking water, try and make it filtered water!

5. End With Water And Activated Charcoal

Be sure to have at least a glass of water to top off your evening, and pop a capsule of activated charcoal to begin removing some of those toxins you put in.

According to Dave Asprey, activated charcoal is one great way to “hack your hangover” as it removes toxins from your system.

Charcoal binds together with the toxins in the alcohol and helps move them through your system quicker. Remember, activated charcoal is also commonly used to filter contaminated water, and it does a great job of filtering the fluids in your body.

Some people even like to take a capsule of charcoal with each glass of beer or wine, chasing it with high-quality H2O.
