Recent scientific research proves that fluoride is a toxin that carries with it many significant side effects.

Despite having significant evidence that fluoride supports the teeth and prevents tooth decay, research shows that fluoride is a neurotoxin when it’s consumed.

How much fluoride constitutes “large quantities”?

According to the mainstream medical community, the lethal dose of fluoride for adults is 5-10 grams.

There are plenty of scientific studies that confirm there are significant adverse health effects resulting from cumulative amounts of fluoride ingestion.

High fluoride levels negatively affect a person’s cognitive abilities.

In relation to acute toxicity, fluoride is more toxic than lead. This is why fluoride has long been used in pesticides to kill rodents and insects. While the argument for fluoride consumption for humans is that it’s harmless in small doses, it accumulates in the body over weeks, months and years - resulting in dis-ease if there is no detoxification.

An important factor to note is that the slower the water passes through the media inside the cartridge, the more contamination or fluoride will be removed. For this reason, we recommend Reverse Osmosis. This is the best way to remove fluoride from the water. And it's the safest option for maximum contaminant removal, not just the fluoride.

IIf you don't have a fluoride removal water filter yet, or you want to upgrade your current water filter system, then your options are:

A benchtop gravity system.

Benchtop gravity filters are a great option to remove fluoride. We have ceramic gravity water filters that use the Ultraceram fluoride removal cartridge in the top tank. The filtration rate for these is generally around one litre per hour. So the water has a very good contact time with the cartridge, and the test results show how well these gravity cartridges work, removing almost all of the fluoride!

Filteroo Fluoride Filter

We recommend the Filteroo because they have the effective Ultraceram as their fluoride removal option.

Berkey Fluoride Filter

Alternatively, there’s also the Berkey range, which have a PF2 fluoride removal cartridge that screws up onto the bottom of the top cartridge and hangs down into the bottom tank.

A reverse osmosis system.

Reverse Osmosis systems come in both benchtop and under sink models.

We recommend the RO-4000 range in the benchtops, the Aquasana RO system for under the sink because it comes with NSF certification test results or any of the HPF RO systems.

A classic twin or triple-stage water filter with a dedicated fluoride removal cartridge.

The Ultrapure Twin and Ultrapure Triple are classic water filters that use the dedicated fluoride removal cartridge.

We highly recommend the Ultrapure brand. They have the same great Omnipure fluoride removal cartridge but also have the incredible Aragon cartridge.

If you filter your water with a fridge, the easiest way to upgrade your fridge filter to remove fluoride, is with an inline fluoride removal filter cartridge. This inline fluoride removal cartridge has a flow rate of 1.9 litres per minute.
