The holes are very, very small so bugs and particles are blocked on the ceramic surface but still allows water to pass through. Once the bugs are blocked and trapped on the surface they are killed by the silver impregnated inside the ceramic, which stops them breeding and multiplying inside the filter housing.

Then the Special Carbon Block Formula Inside the ceramic casing which is Product tested by Envirotech Laboratories inc to NSF53 standards takes care of the rest including Chlorine, Chloramine, Heavy Metals, Herbicides, Pesticides & some Fluoride.
