In this article, you’ll learn more about the risks associated with fluoride, and how to remove it using a fluoride water filter.

What Is Fluoride?

Fluoride is an inorganic, monatomic anion of fluorine, with the chemical formula F⁻ , whose salts are typically white or colourless. Fluoride salts typically have distinctive bitter tastes and are odourless.

Fluorine is said to be a medicine, and if there’s one thing we know about ‘medicines’, is that most of them come with side effects which are usually outlined in the product packaging somewhere.

Although topical fluoride makes teeth more resistant to acid, many people have concerns about using it.

Why Is Fluoride In Our Water?

A quick google search on fluoride usually ends up explaining how fluoride is excellent for your teeth and prevents decay in some way, but the full truth is something else entirely.

WebMD indicates that fluoride may help prevent tooth decay by making teeth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque, bacteria and sugars in the mouth.

However, the same article also states that Fluoride is safe at low levels but toxic at high levels.

Let’s be clear; we are not endorsing WebMD or any claim that Fluoride is the best solution for tooth decay; absolutely not.

We sell fluoride water filters for the simple reason that exposure to fluoride carries significant risks.

You simply can’t ignore the research that illustrates the damage such a substance does to the body, especially the brain.

Fluoride Risks (Reasons You Need a Fluoride Filter)

Fluoride carries severe side effects that every man and woman needs to be made aware of before deciding to drink it.

Many medical professionals have been concerned about the accumulation of fluoride in the body over time due to the overuse of fluoride in dental products, food, drinks and water.

Eventually, the body says no.

Scientifically proven risks include:

      • Dental Fluorosis (fluoride overdose)
      • May damage the brain and central nervous system (CNS)
      • Potential (moderate) cancer risk
      • May increase risk of bone fractures
      • Associated with thyroid dysfunction (one of the MAJOR glands in the body)
      • May interfere with sexual development
      • Associated with diabetes risks.

Dr Axe’s article, Is fluoride bad for you, elaborates on all of these claims.

Enough about the risks, what can you do about it?

Alternatives to Fluoridated Water

Purchase a water filter.

A water filter successfully removes up to 97% of fluoride.

It doesn’t get any easier than that. If you want to remove most of the risk effectively, don’t drink it. Use a water filter, and a third of your fluoride problems vanish.

Avoid fluoridated products.

The next step to avoid poisoning yourself and your family with fluoride is to avoid products like toothpaste, mouthwash and other fluoridated dental products.

Eat organic food only.

Many pesticides used on food crops are based on fluoride and carry significant risks for exposure to heavy metals. In addition, mass produced food products are also made with fluoridated water where water is necessary.

Supplementation.

Calcium is a very effective mineral that supports the very foundational building blocks of teeth enamel. Calcium is one of the main building blocks of teeth enamel and plays an important role in hardening the teeth enamel.

While your mind may instantly go to dairy products, the healthiest way to increase consumption of calcium is through dark leafy greens (spinach, kale etc…), beans, lentils and almonds.

The slower the water passes through these cartridges, the more fluoride will be removed. These nine-inch or 10-inch fluoride removal cartridges are rated around 2.5 litres per minute flow rate.

Just select the right size, and you're good to go.
